Presentation in China

10/18/2015

My book "Industrie 4.0 – managing industrial complexity with SysLM", published by Springer Vieweg, had a print run of 2000 in Germany in 2013 and not all of the run has been sold. It was also the Conference transcript for the System Leadership 2030 Industrial Summit in Feldafing.

I was invited in June to give presentations in Taipei, Taiwan. Now Xinhuanet has invited me to give a presentation at the "Next Stage of the Chinese Economy - 2015 ‘Xinhuanet Thinker’ Annual Conference and Think Tank Summit". I'm curious as to what awaits me there and what experiences I will take away with me. My joy at the success of the book is mixed with apprehension that German industry isn't quick enough and that its initiatives were initial impulses unable to achieve the stated goal.

Buchverkauf in Deutschland und ChinaThe Chinese translation, available since 2014, commenced with a print run of 4000 that was increased to 10.000 within a few weeks and just a few days ago reached a total of 150,000 sold. In Asia, the German Industrie 4.0 initiative has great appeal. The Assembly of the People's Republic of China decided in May 2015 to call into being "Made in China 2025". This is the first of three 10-year plans to make China the world's leading industrial nation by 2049.
